The MG 4 EV is a battery-electric (C-segment) small family car produced by Chinese automaker SAIC Motor under the British brand MG (Morris Garrage) Motors. MG4 was first released in June 2022 as MG Mulan in China. It is the first vehicle that is based on SAIC's battery-electric modular scalable platform.

 

MG 4 EV Specifications:

MG 4 Electric is the first car in the series of MG motors which is based on the new intelligent MSP (Modular Scalable Platform). It is the company's first dive into an electric hatchback in the market to compete with PEUGEOT-208, Vauxhall Corsa-e, and directly with Volkswagen ID3. This car was designed and introduced as a global model with Europe, set as the primary target on July 2022.

Design:

This charismatic design of the electric MG 4 resulted in global development involving the SAIC Motor design centre located at Shangai. The 5-door family hatchback fits into the competitive landscape by 4287 mm long, 1836 mm wide and 1504 mm tall. The wheelbase of the car provides 2705 mm with large interior space and attractive capacity. The boot space of the car is between 350-1165 litres of volume.

The headlights and indicators give the electric MG 4 distinct front-end features with 28 LEDs and 6 vertical stripes. 3 units of fog lamps and low beams are united with LED lights. 172 LEDs and the rear light strip across the entire width of the vehicle make optical highlights. The dual-tone roof and the aerodynamics transition provide the vehicle with a smooth and comfortable ride.


MG 4 Interior


Based on the model versions, the air intake is between 0.27 and 0.28 CW (Curb weight), which passes the air in a front skirt for comfort. During the less cooling air intake, the inlet is improved by up to 30% for better aerodynamic performance. The dual tone scheme is for the comfort and luxury models which are optimised energy and reduced with low-resistance of 215/55 R17 tyres from continental.

The interior of the MG 4 EV has been designed in a very minimalistic way following the principle of simplicity, technology and quality. The cockpit has lean instrumental panels, control elements, high-quality materials and careful installation. Battery Pack:

The imaginative "One pack" battery forms the dynamic visual appearance of MG electric. The placement of the battery pack is horizontal, with a height of 110mm, making it the thinnest battery in its class and increasing interior headroom with lower vehicle height.


MG 4 Charging port


The battery is the main part of the MSP platform for BEV (Battery electric vehicle) developed by SAIC Motors. The MG 4 electric is the first vehicle based on MSP which is offered with 2 battery versions. The MG 4 standard combines a 51 kWh battery with rear mounted 125 kW electric motor rolling the rear wheels.

The AC charging performance at the public charging points is 6.6kW while in DC fast charging the speed is up to 117 kW. In this model, the battery can be charged from 10-80% in 40 minutes in AC Charger.

In comfort and luxury, a 64 kWh battery and a 150 kW motor roll the rear wheels. The battery can be fast charged (DC) from 10 to 80 % in 35 minutes with 135 kW which is enough power for 300 km in 35 minutes.

All the 3 versions boost maximum torque of 250 Nm.
