Guide to 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Design

Jeep carried over the basics of the new Grand Cherokee, including the 4xe, to the 2023 model. The company has kept the styling low-key, as preferred by high-end SUV customers, there is a small blue "e" badge on the open/close cover securing the front left port and a 4xe logo on the left-hand side of the tailgate.

Engine Transmission and Performance

Alike the last generation Grand Cherokee, the new one is powered by either a 3.6-liter V6 or a 5.7-liter Hemi V8. Jeep also offers a 4xe hybrid that brings power to the SUV family. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the base V6 but all-wheel drive is standard on Grand Cherokees with V8 or plug-in hybrid powertrains. Various driving systems are available, including various electronic locking devices.

A Trailhawk model with more road suspension and more capacity is also available, and it has an adjustable air suspension that offers up to 11.3 inches of ground clearance and a shock absorber that allows for more wheelbase to use/beat the hard ground. On our first test drive, we were impressed with the Grand Cherokee's handling and found the V-6 and V-8 engines to be very powerful. On our test track, the V-6-powered Summit test car clocked a respectable 7.4 seconds at 60 mph. The all-terrain Trailhawk completed the same test in 7.7 seconds.

The driver can choose from three different driving modes, namely hybrid, electric, and eSave. The first two are self-explanatory, while in eSave mode the car only uses gas to drive, saving electricity and batteries for later. This model also allows you to choose between battery storage and battery charging. Regardless of the model, the car works like a hybrid when the battery is almost empty. Here, the driver can choose the level of dynamic braking.

Interior Designs

The interior of the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe repeats the design of the 2022 model. The plug and hybrid SUV features a plush interior with a stylish dashboard and AC ventilation, a compact steering wheel, a 10-inch moving center screen, a digital instrument panel, and a center console with a rotary selector. Open walnut trim, storage, massage seats, suede pillars and headliner, and a rear-seat entertainment system with two 10.1-inch touchscreens allow occupants to enjoy a luxurious ride.

The talking point of the Grand Cherokee 4xe is the 10.25-inch in-dash display in front of the passenger. An integrated screen provides pilot assistance and navigation, camera viewing, and visual entertainment, making the front passenger's journey more like the driver's. Other changes in both model lines include updated switches, increased storage space in the front bin, and a new HD entertainment system with integrated FireTV.

Output and EV range

The 2023 Grand Cherokee's plug-in hybrid powertrain will produce the same 375 horsepower and 470 foot-pounds of torque, which are no different from the previous model year.

Jeep also expected a purely electric range of 25 miles and fuel economy of 56 MPGe for the 2022 model. The EPA provided a slightly better certification of 26 miles of range and an identical combined fuel economy rating of 56 MPGe. The total range, according to the EPA, was more than the company estimated more than 440 miles. According to EPA data, the 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe costs $ 1.88 to drive 25 miles on electricity or $ 3.79 on gas.

Charging

The 2023 Grand Cherokee 4xe will support level 1(120VAC) and Level 2 (240VAC) charging and 7.2kW is the maximum charge rate. As with the previous model, level 1 charging could be a slow 12-hour process. The Jeep level 2(240V) home charger, can charge your plug-in hybrid SUV's traction battery up to six times faster than a typical level 1(120V) in just two hours.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Above the surface of the Jeep Grand Cherokee's dashboard is a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Apple Carplay, android auto, and Sirius XM satellite radio. Dashboard navigation with real-time weather and traffic updates is optional and high-end models can be supplied with a digital instrument cluster, 10-inch head-up display, and another 10.3-inch screen integrated into the dashboard for use, while the Laredo and Limited models ships with a standard six-speaker stereo.

Safety Features

Driver assistance features such as pedestrian detection, lane keeping assistance and semi-autonomous driving modes are becoming increasingly important to buyers, and Jeep offers a more complete suite of standard safety technology to meet that demand. For more information on the Grand Cherokee crash test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Off-Road Capabilities

Do you know the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe has a maximum towing capacity of 6,000 lbs. A Quadra-Lift air suspension with electronic power steering is standard on Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit variants. Standard and Overland's grades have a Quadra-Trac II active 4WD system with a two-speed transfer case, while Trailhawk and Summit grades use an advanced Quadra-Drive II 4WD system with a two-speed transfer case and electronic rear with limited slippage. The Trailhawk level has a low-end 2.72:1 gear, a 47.4:1 craw ratio, and Select speed control.

Jim Morrison, vice president of Jeep (North America), calls the new Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe "the most powerful Grand Cherokee to date." Jeep beat the Rubicon by driving it in electric-only mode.

The PHEV features a new stabilizer bar suspension that allows the front and rear axles to turn towards uneven surfaces on rocks and stones - connecting the stabilizer bar improves the SUV's handling on the road as it acts as an anti-roll bar to reduce lateral forces. The same configuration is also found in the hardcore Jeep Wrangler.
