The Indian automobile industry is transitioning to electric vehicles, and new electric vehicles are entering the market. The last year 2022 has proved to be very fruitful for the EV industry with a lot of vehicles entering the shores. Here is a list of 2023 Upcoming Electric Cars in India launching with a price range of Rs.10 to Rs.15 Lakhs, Rs.20 to Rs.30 Lakhs, or even Rs.60 Lakhs also.

Mahindra XUV 400 :

The Mahindra XUV 400 is the first Mahindra upcoming electric car in January 2023. This is a compact electric SUV based on the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) version of the Mahindra XUV 300. This electric vehicle will be available in 3 variants likely the base std, the mid-range EP, and the top-of-the-line EL. This electric SUV will be equipped with Mahindra's Blue Sense+ connectivity suite that comes with 60 new features.

Mahindra XUV 400 provides a 39.4kWh Li-ion battery pack that produces 148 hp and 310Nm torque with an ARAI-tested of 456km range on a single charge. This electric SUV car can sprint from 0-60kmph in 4 seconds while 0-100kmph marked in 8.3 seconds with a top speed of 150kmph.

The car has a capacity of 5 people to accommodate. It has 6 airbags, cornering brake control, stability control, a rear camera, and many more are some of passenger safety features. Single panel sunroof, 7-inch touchscreen, push button for start and stop, and Blue sense+ connectivity are some of the advanced features of the vehicle.

With a 3.2kW domestic charger, the car can charge itself in 13 hours, 6.5 hours to charge with a 7.2kW AC charger, and only 50 minutes to charge with a 50 kW DC fast charger. This electric SUV is scheduled to launch in January 2023 with a price range starting from Rs.17 Lakhs.



Hyundai Ionic 5 :

After the Hyundai Kona electric, the Hyundai Ionic 5 will be the second electric car and the first model on the E-GMP platform from Hyundai in India. Globally, the company will offer Ionic 5 in two variants that is 58kW and 77.4kW battery packs, but in India, it will be available in a 72.6kWh battery pack which provides a power output of 214bhp and 350Nm of torque with ARAI-certified range of 631 km on a single charge. The electric motor produces a top speed of 185kmph.

There has a capacity of 5 seats in this electric hatchback with a dark pebble gray interior theme. A heads-up display, panoramic sunroof, wireless mobile charging, 12.3-inch infotainment system, climate control, and ventilated seats are some of the advanced features of the vehicle. By using a 5-link rear suspension the car delivers superior ride comfort and handling. The car has 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, stability control, ABS with EBD, and a driver assistance system is some of the safety features for passengers.

With a 350kW DC charger, the battery takes 18 minutes to charge from 10-80% while the 50kW charger takes 1 hour.

This electric vehicle is expected to launch in the first month of the year 2023 with the assumed price range of Rs.45 - Rs.50 Lakhs and can book the vehicle with a token amount of Rs.1 Lakh.



Citreon eC3 :

Citreon has launched its ICE-powered Citreon C3 as the entry-level hatchback in the cost-effective segment, and now the french car maker is all set to launch its electric model of Citroen C3 hatchback that favors an SUV, likely to be eC3. Rumors claim that it has a large battery pack of 50kWh which expects a range of more than 300 km on a single charge.

The eC3 is likely to get some looks than C3 and features like cruise control, climate control, rear wiper, etc. The spy photos show the charging outlet on the front right fender and drive selector instead of the traditional gear stick.

This electric vehicle is expected to launch around July 2023 with the assumed price range of Rs.9 lakhs -Rs.13 lakhs.

BMW i7 :

BMW has revealed its electric sedan that has earlier launched in the ICE version of the flagship 7 series and expanding the "i" sub-brand of electric vehicles. The company will launch this model on 7th January 2023 in Mumbai at the company's Joy-town or BMW Joy-fest.

The electric sedan is powered up by a 101.7 kWh battery pack and would be available as a high-performance, dual electric limo with an output of 544 Ps and 745 Nm of torque with an expected range of 625 Km. The car can sprint from 0-100 kph in 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 250 kmph.

The new generation 7 series electric limousine feature includes a 31.3-inch 8k touchscreen display for the passengers with a 5g connection and selected OTT platforms. A 12.3-inch curved digital display for the driver and a 14.9-inch infotainment system with advanced features, front and rear seats with massage functions, ambient lighting and etc.

The charger is very compatible with fast chargers up to 195 kW. The battery can charge from 10-80% in 34 minutes.

This car is anticipated to be launched by the end of 2023 with an expected price range of Rs.2.50 Crore.


MG Air EV :

MG Motor India is already popular in MG ZS EV in India and has already got ready for the 2nd mass-EV market, the MG Air EV. The MG Air EV is based on Wuling Air EV which is manufactured by SAIC-GM-Wuling since 2020 and got the best-selling car in china. Hoping, MG Motor India will showcase the Air EV at Auto Expo 2023.

The Chinese brand MG Air EV comes with two battery packs globally, which are 17.3 kWh and 26.7 kWh. Both the battery pack offers the same power output of 40 bhp and are connected to a rear-wheel drivetrain. The smaller battery range up to 200km and the 300km range for the larger battery.

The MG Air EV can be bought with a 10.25-inch digital display and instrumental cluster, car technologies, air conditioning, steering-mounted controls, etc. features. Airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, and rear parking cameras are hoped to be included in the passenger safety list.

This would be India's smallest electric vehicle which is shorter than Maruti Suzuki Alto. It will be unveiled at Auto Expo 2023 with a price range expected over Rs.10 Lakhs.
